Sir/Madam, I want to know how to know that we have to use dummy activities in CPM & PERT Network Construction. Moreover which side the arrow should be? Are here and specific rules that govern dummy activities. I tried learning via module but i could not understand ow and when to use a dummy. Plz Help.

Dummies are used in the following cases:
a. To avoid duplicating activities between 2 nodes. b. To correct dangling errors. c. To indicate the logical sequence of he activities.
Arrow will be normally in the same direction as flow of activity. However, this is not a hard and fast rule since network diagrams shapes vary from case to case even for the same problem.
Best way to learn is to practice Network diagrams in large numbers. There is no substitute to this.
