01 March 2012 Whether conveyance of Rs.9600 p.a. is exempt from salary income even if individual is not getting any conveyance allowance ?( i.e. irrespective of whether he is getting conveyance allowance or not but he may claim Rs.9600 p.a exemption from salary.)

please let me know asap..

01 March 2012 No Rohit.
conveyance allowance is exempt upto Rs 800 p.m. It does not mean that it will be exempt whether or not received. So, exemption will be conveyance allowance received subject to maximum of 800 p.m.

01 March 2012 first one receives it and then claims for exemption.
