17 July 2012 Dear sir,

We have taken the building for rent of Rs.150000/- p.m in this regard, our landlord asking for service tax.

my Questions are;

Whether we can avoid service since it exceeds Rs.10 lakhs p.a.

and on what basis we should calculate service tax

and is there any formalty to get the bill from land lord

17 July 2012 On taking Commercial property on rent. need to pay Service tax. you cannot avoid. Rs.10 lakhs threshold limit is for service provider in case of Rent service.
so you need to pay service tax

Get the Tax Invoice from Land lord which clearly mentioning the service tax charged and pay the same.
