25 July 2012 Gross Total Income is 10,04,000/- & Chapter VI A Deduction is 1,00,000/- & therefore taxable income is Rs.9,04,000/-.

Is it compulsory to File the return Electronically or the return can be filled manually

25 July 2012 The notification uses the word TOTAL INCOME and not GROSS TOTAL INCOME.

Accordingly if the TOTAL INCOME (Gross total income less Deductions) is less than Rs. 10 lakhs, then it is NOT mandatory to file the return electronically.
