22 February 2012 Three persons A B & C took a housing loan for construction of a new house. All the three are co borrower. C is a man and B is his wife and A is his mother in law.The property lies in the name of A & B. A is aged hence bank has not considered her income to repay the loan hence only B & C are repaying the loan. Whether the C is eligible to claim the intt and repayment of housing loan under income from house property and u/s 80C?

22 February 2012 In your query only B can take benefit of 80C & 24b Interest, because

C- yourself.- not owner of the property
A- mother in law- even though joint property owner not paid anything
