Can we use "CA" as a prefix on PAN Card?

06 June 2011 Hi,

One of my friend had applied for change in name and applied for new PAN card as she got married and her name changed. She is a Chartered Accountant. While applying for the PAN, she added "CA" as a prefix to her name in the section of application "Name as you would like to be printed o card", but her application got rejected saying that "CA" prefix will not be allowed to be printed on Card!!!!!!!

Want some clarification.

Whether NSDL is right, or if she wanted to print CA as a prefix, how should she write in the application?

06 June 2011 Instruction no.1 (last sentence) name should not be prefixed with titles such as Shri, Smt, Kumari, Dr., Major, M/s etc. In view of that form 49A will not be accepted if applicants's name contains a prefix viz.,'CA'.
