28 June 2012 The total cost of a hotel room for one evening was Rs.112.86. This amount represents the cost of the room, a 6% sales tax, and an 8% tourism tax.

The cost of the room without the taxes was....

Answer is Rs.99/-
how we can find this amount

thank u

28 June 2012 Reverse Calculation-
Cost of room without Tax- Rs.99
Add- Sales Tax@6% Rs.5.94
Add- Tourism tax Rs.7.92
Total Rs. 112.86

28 June 2012 If you are good at algebra, go by the method of assuming the basic rent as X. If you are good at arithmetic divide 112.86 by 108 and multiply by 100. The answer will again need the same treatment but with 6 % now.
