Break up e-filing password

24 September 2010 Respected members,

One of my client had himself registered at efiling site and now he forgot his password,
till AY-9-10 i was filing his return mannually, but this year he is comming under 44 AB,
how to break password, or is there any other way ???

please help me.

24 September 2010 The link given above is not suitable since he cannot give previous year's e-filing acknowledgement number,which is mandatory,since this is the first time trying to e-file the return.

24 September 2010 Since he has not filed any return electronically, efiling acknowledgement number is not asked generally. The password can be reset by answering secret question. I had done the same with few of my clients.

In one case even though no return was filed electronically, the site prompted me to give the efiling acknowledgement number. I gave the acknowledgement number stamped on acknowledgement of AY 2009-10 (Manual return) and could reset the password.
