11 May 2012 In a private company,if a director is absent after taking permission from board for more then 3 board meeting what action will be taken against him?

I will suggest you to take leave of absence from the board for not attending three board meeting for such director. It is necessary to take leave permission from Board.

11 May 2012 SInce you have mentioned that the director has taken permission from the Board, no action is required.

However, if a director absents himslef from 3 consecutive board without taking leave from the Board, he will have to vacate his office.

11 May 2012 Yes, he will vacate the office as per section 283 of the Companies Act, 1956.
