Authorised Signature

This query is : Resolved

31 August 2010 Dear Members,

Who will be responsible for signing in ITR-VI of income tax return.

Should any authorised person can sign the same if the company director or MD does not have the PAN & DSC in the mean time.

Regards,

Prabhakar

31 August 2010 My understanding is No. This observation is taken as a corollary to proviso to section 140(c) of the Income tax Act,1961.

31 August 2010 n case the electronic return is being signed digitally using a digital certificate, then the digital certificate should be that of the Authorized Signatory in accordance with the provisions of Section 140 of the IT Act. Therefore, for company returns, the digital certificate should be that of the Managing Director or the Director of the company.
