Assets numbering

31 March 2008 Can anyone please let me know what naming conventions are normally followed by big organizations / MNCs while numbering the Fixed Assets?

Kindly explain with an example.

31 March 2008 If iam not wrong, the answer to ur query is:

It depends on organisation to organization.

They may follow hierarchical model, departmental model,etc.,

Hierarchical model:
1) For manager's computer: - ManCom1
2) For Supervisor's computer: - SuperCom1

31 March 2008 In professionally managed companies the asset numbering will be something like this (It will have many letters separated by slashs) something like this:

LKYTT/SKOR/ETOS/JPY/FA102

They definitely follow some convention and am keen to know how it is done. I think it is not as simple as you have mentioned.

I request other learned members to kindly let me know their views.

02 April 2008 eg
if Furniture and Fitting located at HO purchased in 2007-08
ABC Company - (Only if required)

Format:

FF/ABC/HO/07-08/5000
