Are soft copies of bills sufficient u/s 44aa??

Im in a commsiion based business and my friend said that to claim expenses i need to maintain bills of my expenditure but he isn`t sure whether soft copies are sufficient .Since majority of bills now a days are like ATM receipts which vanish after some 30 days .I want to know is it sufficient if I maintain softcopies /scan copies of such bills ? will the soft copies of bills be sufficient in case of assessment ?
Can all bills be maintained in soft copies or scan copies ???

11 April 2018 soft copies (scanned) are sufficient...specially relevant for ATM receipts, restaurant bills, fuel bills etc

11 April 2018 Thanks a lot Mr.Nikhil. Im thinking of maintaing all my bills in soft copies only because I travel a lot and i cant collect and carry all my bills .Am I allowed to maintaing everything as soft copies and produce to department in case of assesment soft copies only ?

11 April 2018 soft copies is always acceptable. Make sure that you maintain it properly and wherever possible keep the hard copies too.
