Applicability for service tax registration

My Query is if i am earning salary is Rs. 8,50,000/- P.A. and having side business of consultancy in Software Services gross receipts of Rs. 7,60,000/-. 1)My Question is i am liable to services tax registration ?.
If i am liable for service tax registration than on which part i have to pay services tax Salary + Consultancy or only on consultancy? .

You are liable to pay service tax only on consultancy when it exceeds 10 lakhs. For the first year pay service tax on amount exceeding 10 lakhs and from next year service tax payable from Rs 1.

I am working in co. which is not mine and my proprietor consultancy is different . under the service tax will they count my gross Salary + my consultancy receipts which is crossing the limit .
Or Salary is exempted from the services tax ?
