01 January 2009 What is difference between Inventory & stock Both phases Theorically as well as Practically?

01 January 2009 Inventory in a broad term and it includes the stock in trade.

01 January 2009 As per Accounting Standard 2, Inventory includes raw materials, work in progress and stock of finished goods.

01 January 2009 Stock is a word generally used for raw materials and finished goods.

02 January 2009 Both are interchangeable. No, much difference.

But sometimes, the word "stock" would mean "equity stock or preferred stock". i.e. equity shares or preference shares
