I want to if it is mandatory to take VAT and CST number for a Tax free product. I have a manufacturing unit of Vermicompost which comes under exempted goods so plz guide me.
Please let me know what are documents required to run my business if VAT and CST number not mandatory?

Mr Author,
No need to take a VAT/CST registration for a firm dealing in exempted goods. If you have to buy any taxable goods as raw material from outside the state you will have to register under VAT Act....MJK
