pls tell me why we do the statutory audit .what is the procedure for the statutory audit.

17 December 2011 Statutory Auditors report to the Government on the financial statements of Public Sector Undertakings - PSU's; Listed Public Limited Companies; Deemed Public Limited Companies and Private Limited Companies as specified in the Companies Act, 1956.

Statutory Auditors are also appointed by Co-operative Societies, Public Charitable & Religious Trusts, Association of Persons - AOP's like Sports Clubs and Associations to audit their annual accounts.
