I have one client whose turnover is around 200 crores. It is a trading unit. It is purchase from manufacturing unit and selling to trading unit only. it is not want to pass the modvat credit so weather this unit require to take registration under Central excise act?

As you are stating that your company is a trading unit so in this case your company need not possess any excise number as excise number is to be taken only in case you require to carry on manufacturing operations.

Thanx. But my client is first stage dealer. so it is required to take registration under excise? If he want to pass on the MODVAT credit, than he required registration?
