18 December 2014 can I claim the entire amount which is paid to the hospital or only which is reimbursed from the company?

the company reimbursed 25000/- for maternity and I paid more then that to the hospital

18 December 2014 80D is for "Deduction in respect of health insurance premia."

You can get the deduction on the health insurance premium paid by you.

18 December 2014 you can not claim any amount.

you received the amount from the employer company.
due to u/s 80D medical policy premium or preventive health check up premium you can claim.

18 December 2014 Reimbursement of medical expenses by your employer up to Rs 15,000 per year is exempt from tax u/s 17(2)

18 December 2014 I have medical bills of rs. 10000/- plus the maternity expense of approx. Rs. 35000/- of which the employer reimbursed rs. 25000/- for maternity so in total I can claim only rs. 15000/- u/s 80d (including the bills + maternity) right?

18 December 2014 80d is for the claim of insurance premium on health insurance.
Out of the reimbursement of Rs 25000, Rs 10000 will be added to your income as perquisite leaving Rs 15000 as exempt.
If you have taken treatment in Govt. approved hospital the entire Rs 25000 is exempted.
