Wrongly deposited self-assessment tax

04 April 2015 Sir,

My client wrongly deposited self assessment tax for AY 2014-15 after when income tax return was filled on 25.03.2014(belated income tax return for AY 2014-15).

Sir as it is belated income tax return so we can't revise it and can't claim amount of self assessment tax deposited after filling retun.

Sir is there any other way to get back the self assessment amount, so please guide me.

04 April 2015 Firstly, please revise the date date as mentioned by you in the query as 25.03.2014.
It should be 25.03.2015.
.
In case you have not mentioned the tax details in the ITR you can revise the return and can mention the particulars of taxes paid in the revised return.
.
Excess tax paid on Self Assessment will be refunded by the department.
.
You may have to pay interest for late payment of tax, if there be any.

please solve my another query that, I can revise the return even it is belated return and as i know we can't revise a belated return.

So sir please inform me the cases in which we can't revise a belated return?

10 April 2015 We can revised online returns to rectify the mistakes which are of genuine and bona fide in nature.

Excess payment of tax or TDS not claimed in the original return, is a bona fide mistake.
