Does that happens that in case we do not pay DVAT for 2 yrs, the VATO makes phone calls to us??

11 August 2014 Non-depositing of DVAT if no liability is not crime. But if you have not deposited DVAT after collecting it, it is a crime.

03 August 2025 Yes, a VATO (Value Added Tax Officer) can call you on your mobile in case of non-payment or non-filing of DVAT returns, especially if:
You have outstanding tax dues, and
You have collected VAT from customers but not deposited it, which is treated as tax evasion under law.
📞 Why would the VATO call?
To remind or warn about non-compliance.
To seek clarification if returns haven't been filed for long (e.g., 2 years).
To inform you of pending assessments or possible penalties.
As part of pre-enforcement steps before issuing a notice or initiating prosecution.
⚖️ Important to Know:
If there's no liability or your business was non-operational, you should still file NIL returns.
Ignoring calls or notices may lead to:
Penalties
Cancellation of registration
Audit or legal action
