Dear sir,
Yesterday ie on 21-11-2016 I had filed my friends belated return after making payment of tax in one of the banks, I had made the payment in old denominations notes which was accepted by the bank and they issued us the duly sealed Challan with bsr code serial no and date, later on after filing the return I got a call from bank that ur tax payment cannot be accepted and please take your cash in return and make the payment in legal tender, now the issue is as it is a belated return the same cannot be revised, where as I have already filed my return, today ie on 22-11-2016 I again made the payment and the bank issued me new Challan with different date and serial number. Will my return be considered as invalid? What are the consequences? And what are the remedies?

22 November 2016 Your first return will be considered by ITD, they may issue 139(9) (defect notice) or process with demand (as the challan claimed in ITR is invalid). You can file rectification later with challan details of 22/11/2016.
