Sir/ma'am,, our Relatives have a piece of land (nearly 8km from city) App. 1 acre. Till now, it is lying vacant. What can be the best use of land for Agro purpose (apart from growing crops or planting trees)????????

best use depends on the income generation. So check what all activities (within the ambit of definition of agricultural activity as per income tax act) give the best return in that particular area.

For your query on the **best use of vacant land (about 1 acre, 8 km from city) for agro purposes**, along with possible **government subsidies** and schemes, hereโs a detailed response:
---
### 1. **Best Use of Land for Agro Purpose (Besides Crops/Trees):**
* **Horticulture / Floriculture:**
* Growing flowers (cut flowers, ornamental plants). * Fruits or vegetables with high market demand. * Often fetches better returns per acre than traditional crops. * **Sericulture (Silk farming):**
* Cultivation of mulberry plants and rearing silkworms. * **Mushroom Farming:**
* Quick turnover and high profit; requires less land. * **Bee Keeping / Apiculture:**
* Supplementary income, can coexist with horticulture. * **Medicinal and Aromatic Plants:**
* Provides subsidies for establishing horticulture crops, polyhouses, and post-harvest infrastructure. * **Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH):**
* Subsidies for horticulture development including floriculture, medicinal plants. * **Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA):**
* Assistance for export-oriented agro-business units. * **Subsidy on Drip Irrigation & Micro Irrigation:**
* To promote efficient water use. * **Sericulture Development Schemes:**
* Support for sericulture activities. * **State Government Schemes:**
* Check your respective State Agriculture/Horticulture Dept. for additional subsidies and schemes tailored for floriculture, mushroom farming, organic farming, etc.

### 3. **Next Steps:**
* Visit the **District Agriculture/Horticulture office** for local subsidy schemes and feasibility advice. * Check **online portals** for schemes under **NHB**, **MIDH**, and **NABARD**. * Conduct a **market study** to identify high-demand crops/products nearby. * Consider **soil testing** and water availability before finalizing the activity.
