26 October 2010 I want to revise tds return for FY 2009-10. when i prepared using the TIN - NSDL free s/w 2.128 they told as per new requisite must prepare using new FVU 2.129. but NSDL sit doesnt have RPU for 2.129. even the new released format for FY 2010-11 doesnt have RPU 3.0 doesn support for FY 2009-10.

what is solution how to prepare revised return for FY 2009-10 in FVU 2.129.

i have prepared prepared revised return and its in FVU 2.128 format

26 October 2010 I am also facing same problem. I asked TIN-FC they told me that new software is yet to be released. They asked me to wait. It is expected to be out by 1st week of Nov.

So all we can do is, wait.

26 October 2010 Just found a way. TIN - Nsdl site has given FVU 2.129 validation utility. i used the output txt file in that new Validation utility i generated the new FVU in 2.129 format. so we need not wait till the RPU is out. we can do this way.

the validation utility is available in the same download page.

27 October 2010 I know validation utility is out but RPU is not so we need to wait for the RPU.

28 July 2025 To revise a **TDS return for FY 2009–10** when facing a version mismatch (e.g., RPU 2.128 not supporting FVU 2.129), here is a clear, actionable summary based on the conversation and typical TDS filing process:

---

### ✅ Issue:

You prepared a **revised TDS return in RPU version 2.128**, but the requirement is to **validate using FVU 2.129**. However, there was no updated RPU supporting 2.129 at that time.

---

### ✅ Solution (as correctly discovered):

You can **continue using the older RPU (e.g., v2.128)** to prepare the `.txt` output file and then **validate this file using the newer FVU utility (v2.129)** manually.

---

### 📌 Step-by-Step Fix:

1. **Prepare Revised Return**

* Use **RPU v2.128** (freely available from NSDL archive) to create the **.txt file** for the revised TDS return.
* Ensure all data is correctly entered (challans, deductees, etc.).

2. **Download Latest FVU Utility (v2.129)**

* Go to [TIN-NSDL Download Section](https://www.tin-nsdl.com/).
* Look for the **FVU version compatible with the period** (2.129 in this case).
* Download and extract the **FVU validation utility**.

3. **Validate Your File**

* Input the `.txt` file created in RPU 2.128 into the **FVU 2.129** utility.
* It will generate the `.fvu` file required for upload.
* If validation passes, you’re good to go.

4. **Upload via TIN-FC or NSDL Online (if applicable)**

* Submit the `.fvu` file to your **TIN-FC (Tax Information Network Facilitation Center)**.
* Alternatively, upload it online if you are registered on the [TRACES portal](https://www.tdscpc.gov.in/).

---

### 🔁 Why This Works:

* **FVU (File Validation Utility)** is backward-compatible with `.txt` output files from previous RPUs — as long as the **file structure matches**.
* You **don’t need to wait** for the newer RPU version as long as the `.txt` file is valid and the **FVU accepts and processes it**.

---

### 📝 Final Tip:

If you still face issues, ensure:

* You’ve downloaded the **correct CSI file** (challan status inquiry) for the period.
* Token number and other validation fields are correctly filled in.
* You are using the **correct combination of RPU and FVU** for **FY 2009–10 Q1–Q4**.

Would you like direct links to archived versions of **RPU 2.128** and **FVU 2.129**, if still available?
