Tds refund

This query is : Resolved

12 March 2012 A person filled a return for A/Y 2009-10 mannualy to claim his TDS refund of Rs.12745.
Till now he not recieved this refund.
But as i see form 26AS online it show only Rs4328 as tds deducted.
This person have original TDS certificate with him But he misplace the acknowledgement of income tax return.
Now what i have to do to claim this refund from our local income tax department in the absence of acknowledgement of return.

12 March 2012 Since lesser amount is shown in 26AS, he should ask his deductor for submitting revised return with correct PAN. Unless it is reflected in 26AS he will not get any refund. IT department can trace Acknowledgement number with PAN.

13 March 2012 Thanks for your cooperation.
I know that return can be revised by deductor
but as this TDS is related to year 2008 and deductor is govt. department So i don't want to argue with them.
Whether I can serve an application along with the copy of original certificate directly to income tax department OR
Revision of TDS return is the only solution to this problem?

14 March 2012 Since you have already filed the return with correct details, you need not to file again as you need not to submit any document along with return, hence it is of no use.
Even if you send application, it is of no use, they will throw it away. I feel it is better to meet concerned IT department and meet the official and discuss the issue along with all particulars.
