I am working in a construction company. where we can use the the service of transporters to deliver sand and other items. what is the nature of tds and what is the % to be deductible.

TDS Rates Effective from 01.10.2009
1)Payment to Contractors/Sub Contractors in Transport Business (If PAN is quoted)No TDS to be deducted.
2)Payment to Contractors/Sub Contractors in Transport Business (If PAN is not quoted)Individual & HUF 1% others 2%.
Note: From 01.01.2010 if PAN not quoted TDS 20%

Please check I think this no TDS is only for the small contractor/sub contractor having only 2 trucks and they mentions the PAN no.

no tds is for all transport operators w.e.f. 1/10/2009.
