TDS on Rent Deposit Excess

20 April 2011 Dear All

We had deposited excess TDS on rent for Rs. 32996/- in year 2008-09.

So could you advise me how can I adjust or refund back from IT Department

20 April 2011 Its excess TDS on rent & if you have not attributed this excess TDS to any deductee & shown as excess TDS (refundable)in your tds Return, then of course, you will get this refund from the IT deptt.

You can write to the department & keep following up with reminders, till you get the refund.

You can not , on your own, adjust this amount against your any other tax liability.
