Sir,
If a firm who is not in business of plying,hiring or leasing goods carriages makes payment to transportor. Will the firm be liable to deduct tds on such payment if the transporter furnishes his PAN no.

No. If Transporter furnishes PAN TDS not required to be deducted. But the details of payment and PAN of transporter needs to be shown in TDS Return.

Please explain the provisions of section 194C(6) also that if provisions of sec 194c(6) are applicable or not, if person who is not in business of plying ,hiring or leasing goods carriages makes payment to transportor & transportor furnishes his pan no.also.

It says that No deduction shall be made from any sum credited or paid or likely to be credited or paid during the previous year to a contractor who is in business of plying, hiring or leasing goods carriages, on furnishing of his Permanent Account Number, to the person paying or crediting such sum.
So if you are making payment to a person who is not in business of plying, hiring or leasing goods carriages, you are required to deduct TDS.
