Whether TDS is to be deducted on freight charges and clearing and forwarding chgs?

Yes.
TDS shall be deducted U/s 194C @ 2% as contractors
TDS shall be deducted U/s 194C @ 2% as contractors

Yes it is required to be deducted @ 2 % Even if the nature of contract can be presumed in light of transaction of the parties.
