This discussion clarifies how to claim Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on dividends when filing your Income Tax Return (ITR). Even if the dividend income is credited after the ITR filing deadline, you can still claim the TDS. This is possible if the dividend-paying company has reported the TDS in its Statement of Financial Transactions (SFT) and it appears in your Annual Information Statement (AIS) by early June. However, if the company fails to pass on the TDS before your ITR filing date, you may not be able to claim it.

24 May 2023 TDS deducted on dividend is received by the broker (Company) and same will be transferred to the client while filing the ITR i.e. around 31st October then how can client claim TDS while filing his ITR before 31st July.

24 May 2023 Check if the dividend paying company has declared the TDS in its SFT reporting. The same will be available in your AIS by First week of June.
In that case you will be able to claim the TDS by declaring the dividend income in relevant ITR, even though the actual amount may be credited to your account after filing return.

25 May 2023 If company doesn't pass on TDS to you before 31st July by filing their return of income, you will not get TDS claim if you seek TDS credit by filing your return on 31st July.
