Tax on hotels

15 June 2014 I had went to a Hotel in NOIDA I have been served food of value Rs 500 but they charge Rs 700 from me. I want to ask what kind of tax they add and what are there rates even it is service tax, VAT or Surcharge.

15 June 2014 i believe it would be service charge , not surcharge which could be from 5-10% of the food bill amount

service tax is at 4.944%.

VAT could range from hotel to hotel 4-20%.
