30 July 2012 Hi,

I have not submitted my rent receipt to company, so while calculating gross income in form 16 this is not not taken into consideration. Is it possible to claim HRA while filling the returns if so can i enter the gross income after deducting applicable HRA amount. Will it create any problem if the Gross income of form 16 dosnt match to the tax filling sheet.

30 July 2012 i) If you have received house rent allowance and paid house rent, you are eligible to claim deduction u/s 10(13A).
ii) If employer didn't consider section 10(13A) claim while deducting tax, you can avail the benefit by filing the return of income.
