Surrendering Service Tax Registration Certificate

19 April 2010 Dear All,

A service provider who obtained service tax registration in 2005 for providing brokerage service and crossing the threshold, now wants to surrender the same as his total service provided is less than the prescribed limit for service tax i.e. Rs.10 Lakh. Can the service tax registration be surrendered on this ground, if yes then what is the procedure? If no, then is he still liable to charge the service tax and file the service tax return?

19 April 2010 Simply make a letter to surrender certificate on letterhead and attached original service tax R.C.


But if you dont want to surrender fill Nil return of service tax. and continue it for future.
