In PAN of a Co-operative society registered as Artificial Judicial Person and its 4th letter as J. But its status is to be changed as Association of Person. What is the procedure for such change. Is it has to be surrendered to Assessing Officer and than apply for the new PAN.

it is advisable that you approach the AO for surrender. Write a letter stating the facts of the matter. Request AO to kindly accept the surrender of PAN and state is very clearly that you are applying for a new PAN. it shall be for your good to go in person and meet the AO.
