29 June 2009 If the works contract involves transfer of property of goods,service tax attracts as per section 65(105)(zzzza) of the Finance act,1994 under the head 'works contract services'.General service tax rate is 10.3% on the contract value subject to certain deductions and the Compounded rate is 4.12% on the entire contract value.
