Hello,
We have a trust in which we receive rent on an immovable property. Rent exceeds 10 lac a year. Does the Trust which is meant for Charitable Objects need to register with service tax authorities?

Though the trust which is carrying out charitable activities is getting rent from immovable property ., it has to collect service tax and to be registered.

Is there no exemption with regard to Charitable Trusts? What about Notification 25/2012?

the activities of charitable trust in the nature of charity are exempt., but renting of immovable property is not a charitable service to exempt from service tax
