if you ae under works contract then vat is applicable only when material is provided by others & you are only doing jobwork then vat is not applicable

Job works are taxable under VAT or CST Act, only if the transfer of property in goods is being made in execution of Work. This has been made possible by 46th amendment of the Constitution of India.
