If any person received arrears of Pension for last three years ,can the person can claim relief under section 89.The person is in Military.The pension amount of last three years is more than Rs 15 Lacs.The pension was in dispute in Military court.The dispute was whether to give pension or not. Finally judgement was in favour of Person and he got the pension.
Now , as the amount is too high ,he have to pay large amount of tax.
Tell me whether he can claim benefit U/S 89.

Sec 89 may be applied , in cse pension has been recived for previous years. You have to calculate tax assuming that pension was recived in those years in whiach it was accrued.
You may get the benefit of sec 89.
