As per my knowledge if you don't fill the group (not paper) than it will not be counted as attempt. But of you fill the ca exam form and not appear in exam than attempt will be counted.

Good question! Here's the scoop on exam attempts for CA courses (IPCC/Intermediate or Final):
✍️ Does not appearing for a paper count as an attempt? No, it does NOT count as an attempt if you don’t appear for the paper at all.
ICAI considers an attempt only if you actually appear in at least one paper in that exam cycle. If you register but skip the exam completely (don’t appear for any papers), that exam attempt is not counted. But if you appear even in one paper, the attempt counts. Example: You register for Nov 2023 exams for 4 papers. You appear for only 3 papers, skip 1 paper intentionally. This counts as one attempt (because you appeared for at least one paper). You register for May 2024 but do not appear for any paper. This does not count as an attempt. Important: This applies for both Intermediate/IPCC and Final exams. So if you are not prepared for any paper, skipping the entire exam session will not waste your attempt. But appearing for any paper means the attempt is counted, regardless of result.
