Dear Experts
In respect of an a senior citizen whose residential status by mistake shown as Non resident instead of resident and paid Tax for AY 2013-14 .Later at the timimg of filing his return for AY 2014-15 , the mistake was noticed .During this time intimation u/s 143 (1) is also received for AY 2013-14.While calculating the excess tax paid it comes to Rs 8320.Whether the asseseecan file file a rectification u/s 154 and claim refund of Rs 8320

well if it is not a mistake apparent from record, then revise the return instead of rectification application against the intimation

since the original return is filed in time as prescribed under section 139(1), I would advice revising the return.
