Penalty for late filing after 31 Aug

Dear Sir/Mam,
Plz tell me If I am filing the return after 31 aug and my gross total Income is Rs. 300000/- after deduction my net Income is Rs. 247000/- .My query is the penalty which is liable to me in gross income or in net income.

in your case penalty of rs 1000 is levied.......last date is 31/03/2019
