from the scratch the procedure is wrong
home loan of 18 lacs was sanctioned but he utilized only half, and bank allowed it?
did he availed 80C and 24a benefits regarding payment of home loan and interest thereon? if yes then he will have to face music from department for furnishing wrong data.
if above benefits have not been enjoyed then he is free to repay the loan with such money or self money.
