Please tell me I am sole propreitor starting a business, started in May 2013 and Service Tax Registered in June 2013. Question is still I am not crossing the limit Rs.10,00,000/- I want collect the Service Tax?

23 July 2013 No. even taken voluntary registration under service tax. you can claim the basic exemption of Rs.10 lakhs. till such time you no need to charge service tax. how ever return filing mandatory

23 July 2013 the service provider is required to get itself registered under the law, and compulsorily required to charge service tax onservices provided once the turnover crosses Rs 10 lacs.

23 July 2013 Registration is required to be taken after crossing the limit of Rs 9 lacs. Once the basic exemption limit of Rs 10 lacs is breached you will have to raise the bills after charging service tax.
