NRI Taxation

This query is : Resolved

17 March 2011 I was an NRI upto 27th February 2010. I came to India on a Transfer of Residence on 27th February 2010, but then visited Dubai for 12 days in April 2010, 2 days in May 2010 and 10 days in August 2010.

I still hold a valid Residence Visa of Dubai, but have spent more than 181 days in India in the Year 2010-2011. I was informed by my bank manager that I can keep the NRI status for tax purposes only for 2 years. Out of which, one year has passed.

Can I file the IT Returns and get refund the TDS for the A.Y. 2009-10 & A.Y. 2010-11

19 March 2011 The answer is NO.
