15 November 2009 I have received a letter from my AO that

Dear - Sir/Madam

Sub:-Wrong quoting of PAN in return of income filed for A.Y.2008-09, Request for Furnishing of Correct PAN Reg.

Please refer to above. It is seen that you have filed Return of income for A.Y.2008-09.on 31.07.08.The PAN quoted by in this ROI is which is a incorrect PAN. Please show cause that-

1) Why not penalty proceeding may not be eauteated against you(Penalty amount Rs. 10000/-)
2) Why not your return will be treat no-east as per provision of section 139(9) of the Act.
You are required to submit your reply in person as through you A/R in writing with the following documents-
(i) Allotment letter of PAN
(ii) PAN cards photocopy
Produce original documents for verification.

i have file the ROI with right PAN no. the proof of this is my acknowledgement. the pan no in acknowledge is same as in PAN card.
Please tell me what reply i have given to My AO.

15 November 2009 Pl file a reply stating that u have stated correct PAN in the return. Also enclose a copy of your PAN card along with the letter. Request an oppurtunity to produce the original PAN for assessing officer's verification. Conclude the letter with a prayer that the proposed penalty proceedings may be dropped.
