National pension scheme

I am 56 years old. Now I have recently joined the scheme with an intention of wealth creation. Right now I am exhausting Rs. 150000/= under sec. 80.c. I am planning to invest Rs. 50000 in pension scheme to avail. additional tax deduction. I don't know the full details of scheme.Kindly advice it is worth while. I am planning to withdraw the amount only after retirement.
