05 May 2017 i have given 10 lakh to my mother is it taxable in the hand of mother...and also advise should income tax authority can ask me to given them proof of that becoz i am nri living in UAE AND THERE IS NO TAX

05 May 2017 Mother need not pay tax. Refer section 56 (2)(x). IT authorities can ask mother the source of receipt. If so, mother has to establish , with documentary proof ,that the receipt is a gift from daughter having sufficient income to cover up the gifted amount.
