I have a Mediclaim policy from a government insurance company whose premium is about Rs.20,000. The deduction for the same is capped at Rs.15,000. My query is that could I and my wife pay Rs.10,000 each and claim the same as deduction in our respective ITRs. The policy is meant for the whole family.
