Medical Bills Exemption U/s 17(2)

03 January 2011 Dear Experts,

Kindly clear my query regarding if one company paid fixed medical allowance as the part of Salary ,
Can employee of the company claim medical bills exemption up to Rs. 15000 p.a. while calculation the taxable salary by showing the original copy of bills ?.

03 January 2011 See... Fixed medical allowance is a taxable allowance.

whereas... reimbursement of medical bills up to Rs. 15000 p.a. is fully exempt.
