How many Whole time or Managing directors can apvt ltd co have? Please provide the relevant section.

The provision of section 269 and Schedule XIII of the Companies Act, relating to appointment of MD/WTD/Manager is not applicable to private limited company. They are appointed to their company's articles.
So i will suggest you to check, your company articles. The company can have number of MD/WTD.
