30 July 2011 Sir,
A recruitment agency (partnership firm) has a gross receipts of Rs.25 lacs and its profit is Rs.10000/- . My query is :

a) Last date of ITR whether 31st July or 30th September 2011.
b) Audit of 44 AB is compulsory or not

Please suggest me as tomorrow is 31st July, 2011.

30 July 2011 Income has to be offered as 'profits and gains of business'. Hence, section 44AD applies. Since the profit is less than the prescribed minimum in that section audit under section 44AB becomes mandatory. In view of that, cut off date of return filing is 30th sept 2011.
